FIFA World Cup: Senegal and Morocco have Africa's greatest chances in Qatar

    Morocco and Senegal are two African teams that have advanced to the knockouts at the 2022 FIFA World Cup and are carrying the hopes of the continent in Qatar.

    Fourteen teams are currently left in the knockout phase of the 2022 Qatar World Cup, including Senegal and Morocco.

    African teams have always fallen short of advancing past the quarterfinals at the World Cup despite Brazillian legend Pele’s hope that an African nation will win the World Cup by 2000.

    African teams have created an excellent display of iconic performances to spice up the Qatar World Cup. Tunisia, Ghana and Cameroon have failed to advance to the knockouts but still entertained the tournament by clinching shock victories.

    Cameroon secured a 1-0 victory over Brazil in their final group-stage clash of the FIFA World Cup. Ghana secured just one win in their group-stage clashes, beating South Korea 3-2, while Tunisia defeated France 1-0 in their final match of the Qatar World Cup.

    Morocco advanced to the knockout after finishing at the top spot of the Group F table with seven points from three matches, two points more than Croatia at the second spot. Senegal booked a last-16 place after finishing the group stage clashes at the second spot of Group A with 6 points.

    Morocco and Senegal have the opportunity to be the most successful African teams at the World Cup. It is the second time, two African teams have advanced to the last 16 at the FIFA World Cup.

    Senegal will lock horns with England at Al Bayt Stadium on December 4, while Morocco will clash with Spain at Education City Stadium on December 5 in the knockout stage of the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

    Morocco has advanced to the knockout stage again since doing so for the first time in 1986. They are one of the surprise appearances in the last 16 this year, and their performances on the field have drawn praise from football experts and fans all over the globe.

    The hopes of all of Africa at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar are currently resting on the shoulders of Senegal and Morocco. Both teams can create history by becoming the first African nation to advance to the semifinals if they win two knockout clashes.
