FIFA World Cup: Latest Ranking and Best international teams in the world
Ahead of the World Cup 2022 in Qatar, fans worldwide are curious to know more about their favourite teams and their chances of winning the World Cup
The fact that an ever-shifting roster of football players characterizes every team adds more spice and dimension to the World Cup.
This year, we might see the last of legends Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in football's most hyped event. Meanwhile, Neymar Jr. will lead a more competent Brazil in pursuing a record-extending sixth title.
The upcoming edition, set to be held in Qatar, will feature 32 teams and 64 matches. League games worldwide have paused, and the focus is now on the World Cup that begins on November 20.
Here is a list of the highest-ranked international teams this year!
1. Brazil
Coach Tite has assembled a formidable team backed by world-class defenders and a highly talented pool of youngsters, at the heart of which lies skipper Neymar Jr.
He is not the sole provider for the squad anymore, and experts believe that they can grab the trophy this edition after 20 long years. Most players are in their peak years, so expectations are riding high.
Brazil will start its World Cup campaign against Serbia on November 24.
2. Belgium
Although Belgium's Golden Generation might have begun to disband, they're boosted by Kevin De Bruyne's fierce persona at the helm of the squad.
After an underwhelming season at Chelsea, Romelu Lukaku might be recovering. There are no issues regarding his fitness as of now. Real Madrid's Thibaut Courtois is expected to be a reliable force in the team.
3. Argentina
Argentina couldn't win another trophy after the memorable days highlighted by the great Diego Maradona. They will compete in their first World Cup after his death in November 2020, and all eyes will be on Lionel Messi as he plays his last World Cup campaign.
Argentina have tremendously improved under coach Lionel Scaloni, and Lionel Messi's prolific squad is thriving on a 35-match unbeaten run.
4. France
The defending champions are comparable to Brazil in terms of squad depth. They have the likes of Kylian Mbappé and Karim Benzema leading the attack.
Although the team is still reeling from an injury list that includes Paul Pogba and N'Golo Kante, they still have a good chance of winning. However, no team has ever retained the World Cup title since Brazil in 1962.
5. England
England is riding a massive wave of misfortune that has left them winless in six matches. Moreover, the team's most clinical right-back, Reece James, will be absent from the pitch.
However, the country boasts a strong record in recent big-ticket tournaments. They were semifinalists at the World Cup in 2018 and a finalist at Euro 2020.
