The Dutch will need to improve if they want to go far in the tournament, and that will start with star striker Memphis Depay, who needs to be fit and ready to score goals.
In Group A, Ecuador looked the most confidence in their opening game against Qatar. Deprived of a quick opener by VAR, captain Enner Valencia scored twice in the first half. Qatar could only make three brief touches in their penalty area for the entire game.

Ecuador's real World Cup begins with a game against the Netherlands. They should not be too concerned by what they saw the Dutch produce against Senegal, and they have their weapons to use going forward. That said, the Netherlands are unlikely to play so tentatively two games running, and if Depay starts, then Ecuador’s defenders will be tested much more severely than they were on Sunday.
