Pro Kabaddi League 9: 5 players that were sold for the base price
In a two-day auction held from August 5 to 6, some players became the costliest players in all seasons, but some were unexpectedly bought at the base price
This year's auction was filled with many surprises. On the one hand, Pawan Sehrawat crossed the 2 Crore mark; on the other hand, Pardeep Narwal, the costliest player in season 8, came down from 1.65 Crores to 90 Lacs.
Like Pardeep Narwal, several other big players lost their charm this season and came down to a low price.
Here are five big names in Kabaddi sold for a base price in this season's auction.
Rahul Chowdari (Jaipur Pink Panthers)
One of the oldest players in the league and the fourth highest scorer in PKL, Rahul Chowdari, will be playing for Jaipur Pink Panthers this season.
Despite his experience and brilliance in the game, he was released by Puneri Paltan ahead of season 9, considering his average performance in season 8.
In this season's auction, Jaipur Pink Panthers was the only franchise to bid on him, so he was sold on his base price of ₹ ten lacs.
Amit Hooda (Dabang Delhi)
Amit Hooda, one of the best defenders in PKL history, was released by Jaipur Pink Panthers ahead of season 9 auctions.
During the auctions, he was bought by Dabang Delhi for his base price, ₹ 10 Lacs.
One of the reasons for this shocking surprise is that he hardly played any games in season 8 due to an injury.
However, in season 7, he made 42 tackle points and 47 in season 6. If Hooda remains injury-free this season, he might play exceedingly well for Dabang Delhi, again making him one of the most earning players in PKL.
Monu Goyat (Telugu Titans)
Monu Goyat performed well last season with 93 raid points in 14 matches.
Despite his decent performance in season 8, the bidders didn't show any interest in him, and Telugu Titans bought him for his base price of ₹20 Lacs.
Abozar Mighani (UP Yoddhas)
With the craze of Kabaddi spreading in Iran, the Indian Pro Kabaddi League has seen an influx of many good Iranian players in the last few seasons.
Abozar Mighani is one of the Iranian players playing in the league for a few seasons now. He has made 203 tackle points in PKL and is expected to be of great value to UP Yoddhas this season.
Despite his experience and talent in the game, Mighani was sold for his base price, ₹ 20 Lacs, to UP Yoddhas.
Siddharth Desai (Telugu Titans)
The most significant player sold for the base price this season was Siddharth Desai.
The reason for an unsuccessful auction for Desai this year was his injury last season. He only played three matches last season, bringing his price to 20 Lacs.
Desai has previously played as the captain of Telugu Titans, and the Titans know his value in the team. If Desai stays injury free this season, he will likely take his price back up, given his terrific raiding capabilities.
