Kyle Mayers’ rescuing ton for West Indies
In the 2nd session, West Indies scored 111 runs without losing a wicket. This was an excellent session for the hosts as they passed Bangladesh’s 234 with a 14-run lead. Jermaine Blackwood (39*) and Kyle Mayers (60*) made a 116-run unbeaten partnership and got WI back in the game. Both Blackwood and Mayers defended the good balls and smashed the bad balls for boundaries.
In the 3rd and final session, West Indies scored 92 runs for the loss of 1 wicket. They lost the wicket of Jermaine Blackwood just after the start of the 3rd session for 40(121). With the supporting innings of Joshua Da Silva, Kyle Mayers scored his second test ton in his 13th test match. Mayers scored most of his runs driven through covers. A 92-run partnership between Joshua Da Silva and Mayers ensured that WI was ahead of the game, putting Bangladesh in the back seat.
West Indies will look to increase their lead on Day 3 as Kyle Mayers and Joshua Da Silva are going strong against Bangladesh’s bowling line-up. Visitors looked good in the 1st session, but West Indies had them in the 2nd and 3rd. Bangladesh needs to pick quick wickets and end the innings of WI on day 3.
