Nitto ATP Finals 2022: Everything you need to know - Venue, dates, players, prize money
The ATP World Tour Finals, now called the Nitto ATP Finals, is scheduled to take place between November 13 to November 20, 2022. This is the biggest tournament at the end of every season after the four Grand Slam tournaments
One of the essential qualities of this tournament is that the top 8 singles players and the top 8 doubles players in the ATP rankings are allowed entry in this tournament, to not only get the opportunity to win big prize money at the end of every season but also to gain massive ranking points.
The tournament began in 1970 when it was called the Masters Grand Prix. Soon after, the name changed to Tennis Masters Cup, then to ATP World Tour Finals. Currently, it is called Nitto ATP Finals.
When will the tournament begin?
The tournament will begin on November 13, and the finals of both the singles and the doubles matches will be held on November 20.
The tournament was scheduled to begin at 16:00 GMT but had to be postponed to 18:00 GMT because the timings clashed with the opening game of the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The event is taking place at Turin’s Pala Alpitour in Italy. It is the biggest indoor stadium and will be hosting the ATP Finals this time. With a total seating capacity of 1200 people for ATP, this stadium holds a contract with ATP till 2025 to host the season-end finals.

Players to compete in the 2022 ATP Finals
The eight players allowed initial entry into the last biggest tournament of the year were Carlos Alcaraz, Rafael Nadal, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Casper Ruud, Daniil Medvedev, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Andrey Rublev, Novak Djokovic and Taylor Fritz.
Since Carlos Alcaraz has recently suffered a severe abdominal injury, he has backed out of the tournament, and an alternate, American Fritz, has joined the list instead.
If the rumours are true and Nadal is also going to back out, there are two more alternates, Holger Rune and Hubert Hurkacz.
As far as the prize money is concerned, ATP Finals have the most significant prize money ever, with an undefeated singles player taking home $4,740,300 and an undefeated doubles duo taking home $930,300. An undefeated player will also gain 1500 ranking points, the most points ever.
