Pro Kabaddi League: Top Raiders, Defenders, and Award List for Season nine

While the title was not decided until the final, the top and defending champions were already decided before the summit meeting. The two league leaders finished the season with green and orange sleeves. PKL 2022 saw a new player topping the rankings of the best attackers and defenders: Arjun Deshwal and Bharat battled in the attacking department, while Ankush and Mohammedreza Chiyaneh fought for the spot in the defence.

Arjun Deshwal of Jaipur Pink Panthers finished the season as the best attacker with 296 attack points in 24 games, while his teammate Ankush was the best defender of the season with 89 attack points in 24 games. Deshwal finished last season as the runner-up with 267 attack points in 22 games, behind Pawan Sehrawat, who scored 304 attack points in 24 games in PKL Season eight.

In Season 9, the Raider from Jaipur scored 17 times in the Super 10 and 37 points in do-or-die situations. Ankush broke into the top 10 for the first time in his first season in Pro Kabaddi. The right-wing has scored a team-high five nine times this season. Apart from Deshwal and Bharat, the top 10 Raiders also feature suspects like Naveen Kumar, Pardeep Narwal, Maninder Singh and Sachin Tanwar. Pawan Sehrawat, who would have been a candidate for this spot, missed the season due to an injury.

In the list of top 10 defenders, Ankush finds himself alongside last season's best defender, Mohammedreza Chiyaneh, and players like Saurabh Nandal, Sahul Gulia, Sunil Kumar and Sumit. Interestingly, finalist Puneri Paltan's players are not on either list. But that could change after the final, as the PKL's best defender, Fazel Atrachali, is on the verge of breaking into the top 10.
