David Warner and Rovman Powell's heroic innings

Their heroic innings helped Delhi Capitals clinch a 21-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad. Both the players remained unbeaten at the end of the Capitals' innings as they posted a mammoth total of 207/3 in 20 overs. David Warner piled up 92 off 58 balls while Rovman Powell chipped in 67 off 35 balls. Delhi got off to an abysmal start owing to the absence of their other key opener Prithvi Shaw. His replacement Mandeep Singh got dismissed for a duck, and soon Mitchell Marsh was sent back. Skipper Rishabh Pant contributed some quick runs but failed to make it big. However, David Warner and Rovman Powell filled the stadium with boundaries to fetch such a massive total.

David Warner, the Player of the Match post winning, said, "I think when you rock up here and look at that wicket, it's a really nice wicket. It doesn't matter if you bat first or second, you know it's going to be nice and true. I had some success here and knew if I played my strokes, didn't think about hitting gaps but just hit the ball and watched the ball, it was going to come off, and fortunately today it did. [On Powell partnership] Having Rovi at the other end, he's got some serious power to clear the fence. It was amazing striking and I was glad he was at the other end. Man he hits them clean and gee they go a long way. [On playing Sunrisers] I didn't need extra motivation. We've all seen what happened before in the past. It was just good to get the win on the board." 

Khaleel Ahmed derailing Hyderabad's chase

Delhi Capitals' pacer Khaleel Ahmed in the fixture against Sunrisers Hyderabad, achieved a 100 wickets milestone in his T20 cricket career. He played a pivotal role in getting his team a crucial breakthrough by dismissing set batter Aiden Markram. Before him, he dismissed opener Abhishek Sharma in his very first over. He ended up with three wickets after conceding 30 runs in his four-over spell with an economy of 7.50. Out of 10 matches, the young bowler has got to play seven games and has scalped 14 wickets.

His fellow teammate Anrich Nortje said, "[Khaleel Ahmed] He's been bowling really well this whole tournament. Everyone has been bowling well. Certain stages, you're going to get hit. When you have a short side, it's hard to protect the short side the whole time and sometimes it gets a bit predictable. But I think the boys bowled really well, especially at the end as well, under pressure and everyone stayed cool and calm so that was nice to see." 

Umran Malik breaks his record to clock 157kmph

Umran Malik on Thursday was at his pacy best against Delhi Capitals. He has been pretty impressive with the technique and pace he is carrying. In the final over of the Capitals' innings, he was breathing fire as he bowled a delivery that clocked 157 kmph and left everyone berserk. Apart from this, three other balls from the same over surpassed 150 kmph. Although he had an expensive spell, his speed left everyone spellbound. This is the fastest delivery of this season and the second-fastest in IPL history. He has won the fastest ball of the match award for the tenth consecutive time in IPL 2022.
