Afghanistan captain Mohammad Nabi has retired as captain of the national team following the four-run defeat to Australia in Adelaide in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 Super 12 match

Mohammad Nabi captained the side in 35 T20Is - the first time he led them in 2013 - with Afghanistan winning 16 of those matches.
The captain explained in his tweet that the "selection committee and I were not on the same page, which affected the balance of the team".
However, he clarified that he would continue to be available as a player "if the management and the team need him".
The experienced Afghan all-rounder led the team into the Super 12 stage of the ongoing T20 World Cup, where rain affected Afghanistan's chances against New Zealand and Ireland.
They ended the Super 12 phase without a win in three completed matches and almost pulled off a robbery against Australia on Friday but eventually lost by just four runs after a spectacular performance by Rashid Khan.
