Origin of the club
The formation of Yorkshire County Cricket Club took place in 1863, following the establishment of a match fund committee on March 7, 1861, to organize cricket matches in the county of Yorkshire. The club was one of the strongest county clubs in 1863. The founding members of the club included Thomas Barker(Mayor of Sheffield), Michael Ellison, and Robert Eddison.
Yorkshire played their maiden first-class match against Surrey at the Oval in 1863.
Yorkshire Vikings in Vitality Blast
Yorkshire Vikings have been competing in the Vitality Blast (The T20 Blast) since the first edition of the tournament in 2003. They have never won the tournament but reached the finals once in 2012. Yorkshire lost the final to Hampshire Royals by 10 runs at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff. They have also made it to the semifinals once and advanced to quarter finals thrice.
Achievements
Yorkshire County Cricket Club has won the highest number of County Championship titles(32) since its establishment in 1890.
