    Worcestershire County Cricket Club is one of the oldest first-class cricket clubs in the English domestic cricket structure. It represents the historic county of Worcestershire. The

    Origin of the club

    The formation of Worcestershire County Cricket Club took place on March 4, 1865, after a meeting at Star Hotel in Worcester. Paul Foley, an agriculture estate owner in Herefordshire got involved with the club in the 1880s and gave much-needed support to help establish the Minor Counties Championship in 1995. The club applied for the County Championship in 1899 followed by their success and got the first-class status.

    Worcestershire played their maiden first-class match against Yorkshire County Cricket Club at Yorkshire on May 4,5 and 6 in 1899.

    Worcestershire Rapids in Vitality Blast 

    Worcestershire Rapids have been competing in the Vitality Blast (The T20 Blast) since the first edition of the tournament in 2003. They won the tournament in 2018 after defeating Sussex Sharks in the final by five wickets at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham. They made it to the finals again in 2019 but lost to Essex Eagles by four wickets.

Despite being one of the smallest county cricket clubs, Worcestershire has achieved far more recognition compared to its geographical size.
