Based in Hyderabad, Telangana, Sunrisers Hyderabad is a cricket franchise in IPL owned by Kalanithi Maran of SUN Group
It was founded in 2012 after IPL terminated Hyderabad-based franchise Deccan Chargers. The Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium is the main cricket stadium in Hyderabad, Telangana state, India, and is the home ground of the Sunrisers Hyderabad. The team is currently captained and coached by Kane Williamson and Tom Moody, respectively. They have a star batting and bowling coach in the form of Brian Lara and Dale Steyn, respectively. David Warner has been their lead scorer till 2021, who lead the team to their maiden title, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar is their key bowler. They have built a decent team in 2022 auctions having talented players like Abhishek Sharma, Aiden Markram, Marco Jansen, Washington Sundar, Nicholas Pooran, Umran Malik, and T Natarajan.
Major honors: They reached the playoffs in their first season itself and won their maiden title in 2016 by defeating RCB by eight runs in the final. The team has qualified for the playoff stage of the tournament every season since 2016 but failed terribly in 2021.
