Origin of the club
The earliest cricket match played by Nottingham Cricket Club was recorded in 1771. The maiden first-class match played by a team representing Nottinghamshire was played by a combined team of Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire in 1803. Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club was officially founded in April 1841. Trent Bridge ground was established as the home ground of Nottinghamshire cricket club by William Clarke.
Nottinghamshire Outlaws in Vitality Blast
Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club has been competing in the Vitality Blast (The T20 Blast) since the inaugural edition of the tournament. They have won the tournament twice. First time in 2017 after winning the final against Birmingham Bears at Edgbaston Cricket Ground by 22 runs and the second time in 2020 after defeating Surrey by six wickets. They made it to the final in 2006 but lost to Leicestershire Foxes by four runs.
They made their first-class debut before the official registration of the club against Sussex at Brighton in 1835.
Achievements
Despite their troubles in longer formats, Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club has established itself as a major Vitality Blast team, having won the tournament twice in the last five years.
