    Origin of the club

    The formation of the Lancashire County Cricket Club took place in a meeting organized by Manchester Cricket Club on January 12, 1864, in Queen's Hotel in Manchester. The founding ethos of the club was to spread a thorough knowledge and appreciation of cricket throughout the county of Manchester.

    Lancashire County Cricket Club played their maiden match against Birkenhead Park at Warrington on June 15, 1864, and their maiden first-class match against Middlesex at Old Trafford in 1865. V. E. Walker took all ten wickets of Lancashire for Middlesex in the second innings. However, Lancashire won the match by 62 runs.

    Lancashire County Cricket Club in Vitality Blast 

    Lancashire County Cricket Club has been competing in the Vitality Blast (The T20 Blast) since the inaugural edition of the tournament in 2003. The club won the tournament once in 2015 after winning the final against Northants Steelbacks at Edgbaston Cricket Ground by 13 runs. They have made it to the finals in the tournament twice in 2005 and 2014.
