Origin of the club
The Hampshire County Cricket Club formation took place on August 12, 1863. The club was founded as a successor to Hambledon Club and was immediately given first-class status. The club lost its first-class quality for several years but eventually recovered it after being invited to compete in the 1895 County Championship. Hampshire played their maiden first-class match against Sussex at Antelope Ground in Southampton on July 7-8, 1864.
Hampshire Hawks in Vitality Blast
Hampshire Hawks have been competing in the Vitality Blast (The T20 Blast) since the tournament's inaugural edition in 2003. They have won the tournament twice, in 2010(against Somerset) and 2012 after Yorkshire in the final by ten runs.
Achievements
Hampshire became the first British domestic club to win the Twenty20 competition on home turf In 2010. They also won the Friends Life t20 and Clydesdale Bank 40 to complete a historic double.
