Rashid Khan made his international debut against Zimbabwe at Bulawayo on October 18, 2015. His first T20I match took place on October 26, 2015, in Bulawayo against Zimbabwe. He took one wicket and the Afghan team won by six wickets.
In February 2018, Rashid became the stand-in captain of his team for the 2018 Cricket World Cup Qualifier tournament. His Test cricket journey commenced on June 14, 2018, against India. Rashid Khan bagged two wickets for 153 runs. After the 2019 Cricket World Cup, Rashid took over the captaincy of the Afghanistan cricket team across all three formats. However, it only lasted till December 2019.
In July 2021, he reclaimed the captaincy of Afghanistan's T20I squad. Surprisingly, he relinquished his captaincy stating that the selection committee did not receive his consent. On 7 November 2021, he scored his 400th wicket in T20I cricket.

Rashid joined the Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 4 crores and made his debut in February 2017. He took two wickets in his opening match and the team bagged an easy win. He took 17 wickets in 14 matches making him the sixth-highest wicket-taker in the season. In January 2018, Rashid became Afghanistan's first IPL millionaire after the team retook him for INR 9 crores. On 5 May 2018, Rashid played his 100th T20 match and in which he was the man of the match. In the 2022 IPL auction, the Gujarat Titans bought Rashid Khan for INR 15 crores.

Rashid Khan was born in 1998 in Nangarhar, eastern Afghanistan. His family lived in Pakistan for a few years to evade the Afghan war. During this period, he developed a passion for playing cricket. He looked up to Pakistani player Shahid Afridi during his early years and played cricket with his brothers. After returning to Afghanistan, he resumed his studies and trained under scarce training facilities.
As of now, Rashid khan is not dating anyone. On top of that, he is not planning to get married for the foreseeable future. He had mentioned that he would tie the knot only after Afghanistan won the World Cup.
Rashid Khan’s net worth is around $3 million. He receives his salary from the Afghan cricket board T20 tournaments (including IPL, brand endorsements, advertisements, and investments).
