    Pat Cummins’ Cricket Career

Despite having a brilliant start, his career backpedaled due to health issues.

However, he returned six years later and reemerged as one of the best pacers World Cricket has ever seen.

Currently, Cummins is the captain of Australia in Test cricket and vice-captain of the squad in limited-overs cricket.

In addition to being a powerful bowler, he is a decent right-handed batter.

    Pat Cummins’ International Career

Cummins’ international career took off in November 2011 when he made his Test match debut at Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.

Unfortunately, he suffered a heel injury and this ruled him out for the entire 2011-12 summer.

The following summer was a similar story as a stress fracture prohibited him from playing as much as he would have liked. Cummins was in the Ashes Test squad in 2015, but was not selected. In the subsequent ODI tour, his stress fracture resurfaced.

This poor run of injuries ended in 2016 when he returned to domestic cricket and became an important asset to the New South Wales one-day squad as well as the Sydney Thunder.

His subsequent Test cricket comeback was on March 16, 2017.

Over the next two years, he regained his form as a consistent and reliable bowler.

On 26 November 2021, Cummins became the captain of the Australian men's Test cricket team.
