Murugan Ashwin's Cricket Career

He was a regular in Tamil Nadu's U23 team. A late debut in the world of first-class cricket, he made his first-class debut for Tamil Nadu against Odisha at Cuttack on November 2, 2012. He made his List A debut for Tamil Nadu on 11 December 2015 against Mumbai in Cuttack, bowling 7.2 overs and taking a hat-trick. He made his T20 debut playing for Tamil Nadu against Delhi at Nagpur on 22 November 2016 and took a hat-trick in just 4 overs.

Murugan Ashwin's Early Life

Murugan Ashwin was born on 8 September 1990 in Sivasanga district of Tamil Nadu in South India. His father Era Murukan Ramasamy is a renowned Tamil writer and Vice President of HCL Technologies. Ashwin, like Sachin Tendulkar and Shane Warne, grew up with the aspiration to succeed in cricket. He has been supported by his parents from a young age, has done very well in studies too but always wanted to make his career as a cricketer.

IPL Career of Murugan Ashwin

Pune Giants, who were out of the IPL, bought him in the 2015 auction, but his IPL journey has not been stable. His base price was ₹10 lakh and Mumbai Indians were fighting a bid on him along with Kolkata Knight Riders and Sun Risers Hyderabad to buy him for ₹1 crore but then Delhi Daredevils bought him for ₹4.5 crore, which 45 times more than their base price. He was bought again the following year but this time Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kings XI Punjab started bidding at a base price of 20 lakhs. Now Murugan Ashwin has joined the team of Mumbai Indians which is expected to keep him in this team going forward.

After 34 matches, Murugan Ashwin has bowled 112 overs and picked up 26 wickets at an economy rate of 7.6.
