Deepak Chahar is an Indian International cricket player. He represents India in international cricket and Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. He is a right-arm medium fast-bowler.
Deepak Chahar was born on August 7, 1992, in Agra, India to Lokendar Singh Chahar, an Indian airforce officer and Pushpa Chahar. He grew up along with his elder sister, Malti Chahar who works as an actress. He was introduced to cricket at the age of 10. His father left his job to concentrate on his son and enrolled him at the ‘Zilla Cricket Academy’ in Jaipur. He trained under coach Navendu Tyagi there.
Deepak Chahar was named in India’s Tewnty20 International squad for their tour of England in January 2018. He made his T20I debut against England on July 8, 2018. He played his maiden ODI match against Afghanistan in September 2018 during the 2018 Asia Cup.
He was a part of the Indian squad for Twenty20 series against the West Indies in 2019. He took three wickets while yielding only four runs in the final match of the series winning the ‘man of the match’ title.
He has quickly turned into a reliable all-rounder for the Indian squads, his growth has been remarkable over 2020-2021, transforming from a new ball specialist to a pacer who can be called in the match to perform at any stage along with his increasing confidence & performance as a batsman.

Deepak Chahar began his Indian Premier League journey in 2016 after being acquired by Rising Pune Supergiants. He displayed his potential but had an average stint during the 2016 and 2017 seasons. He was acquired by Chennai Super Kings for INR80 lakh during the IPL 2018 auction. He took ten wickets in 12 matches and emerged as a rising star playing a crucial part in wins of the team.
Ahead of the current iteration, he has played 63 matches, taking 59 wickets with an average of 29.2 and an economy rate of 7.8.
It has been confirmed that he has been retained by Chennai Super Kings for a whopping INR14 crore during the IPL 2022 auction.
He was the first Indian player to take a T20 hat trick for India.
He was the player of the series during the T20 series against Bangladesh in 2019.
He took six wickets while yielding only seven runs in 3.2 overs against Bangladesh.
Deepak Chahar is engaged to Jaya Bhardwaj, a former Big Boss contestant. The couple got engaged after Chahar poped the question during Chennai Super King’s last league stage match of the 2021 Indian Premier League.
