Wimbledon News: Rafael Nadal withdraws from Wimbledon due to injury; Nick Kyrgios progresses to the final

The legendary tennis player from Spain, Nadal, has recently been plagued by ailments. He withdrew from Wimbledon today ahead of his men's singles semi-finals match with Nick Kyrgios

The Spanish star had defeated American Taylor Fritz in the quarter-finals on July 6 to enter the semi-final.

However, Nadal's victory in the quarter-finals did not come easy. He took a break after the first set that he had lost due to a severe abdominal injury. Many were skeptical that he might not even return, but he did. Despite the injury and the excruciating pain, Nadal won the match. However, given his injury, he was unsure if he would be able to play the next game. "I don't know. Honestly, I can't give you a clear answer because if I gave you a clear answer and tomorrow another thing happens, I would be a liar," said Rafael Nadal about his match with Kyrgios.

The Spaniard's determined attitude has made him push through many injuries, but continuing to play with a severe injury like this may not be the best idea. He had a foot injury ahead of the French Open that could've prevented him from playing the tournament. However, he kept his spirits high and not only entered the tournament but also won it. He, however, has withdrawn from Wimbledon ahead of the semi-finals, and he only pushed through the quarter-finals because he wanted to finish and allow himself to get to the semi-finals.

After undergoing scans, the 22 times grand slam winner said, "I have to pull out of the tournament while withdrawing tournament. As everybody saw yesterday, I have been suffering from pain in the abdominal area."

Now that Nadal has withdrawn from the championship, Kyrgios has gotten a walkover straight to the finals. Depending on the results of tomorrow's semi-final between Cameron Norrie and Novak Djokovic, he shall be fighting one of the two for the title. This is going to be 27-year-old Kyrgios' first-ever grand slam final. It remains to be seen who wins the title in the Sunday final match.
