Wimbledon News Men’s Single : Nick Kyrgios wins tense clash against Stefanos Tsitsipas

    Nick Kyrgios recorded his first Grand Slam victory against a Top 10 opponent after beating Stefanos Tsitsipas in 2015. The opening set was a cagey affair as it was sent into a tiebreak. Stefanos Tsitsipas took advantage when Nick Kyrgios lost his focus due to the call of the linesperson on the baseline, allowing the Greek to clinch the first set. 

    Nick Kyrgios was stirring trouble with the linesperson and umpire in from of a rowdy crowdy as he received an obscenity warning from the chair umpire. However, the Australian did not let Stefanos Tsitsipas gain an advantage and saved all five break points he faced. While on the brink of losing the second set, Nick Kyrgios pulled off a reversal when a poor overhead shot by the Greek allowed him to move ahead with an excellent forehand winner.

    Stefanos Tsitsipas lost his momentum in the third set, allowing Nick Kyrgios to move ahead with a breakpoint to 2-1. The Australian fired a fiery underarm serve which went into the nets on a return shot from Stefanos Tsitsips. Nick Kyrgios made it 5-3 with a superb drop shot, followed by a backhand volley to claim the set in the next game. He also kept on engaging in courtesies with the crowd throughout the match.

    Both players were equally matched 4-4 in the fourth set when the match had to be paused for the roof to be closed. He lost his first match point at 6/5 but immediately saved a set point by the 23-year-old Greek, following which he secured his victory with a forehand drop shot. The win improved his record on the grass-court for the season to 10-2.

    In an on-court interview, Nick Kyrgios said, "Honestly, it was a hell of an atmosphere, amazing match. I honestly felt like the favourite coming in. I played him a couple of weeks ago. But I knew that it was going to be a tough match. He's a hell of a player. I had my tactics out there. He knows how to play me, he's beaten me once. I have had success. It was a hell of a match."

    Stefanos Tsitsipas branded Nick Kyrgios "a bully" with an "evil side" after losing a stormy Wimbledon clash on Saturday. "It's constant bullying; that's what he does," the Greek fourth seed said in his post-match press conference. "He bullies the opponents. He was probably a bully at school himself. I don't like bullies.

    Nick Kyrgios will face Brandon Nakashima of the United States for a quarterfinal spot on July 4.

    Alex De Minaur gave a high-class performance to beat World No. 132. In the third round at Wimbledon, Liam Brody of the United Kingdom 6-3, 6-4, 7-5.

    Alex De Minaur's classy straight-set victory against Liam Brody made him the second Australian within 15 minutes of his fellow countryman Jason Kubler to reach the fourth round at Wimbledon. 

    Alex De Minaur took control of the game in the sixth game of the opening set with a break to love. He outclassed Liam Brody with his brilliant baseline play to clinch the first set. The 23-year-old Australian easily won the second set despite dropping his serve on 5-4 to widen his lead. He built on the momentum in the third set, but Liam Brody broke his service to send the match into a tiebreak. However, the powerful clean hits of Alex De Minaur proved to be too difficult to match for Liam Brody.

    In an on-court interview, Alex De Minaur said, "I am just relieved. It was harder at the end there than I wanted it to be, but this is tennis at the end of the day, and anything can happen. Nerves were playing in front of a fantastic crowd, on an excellent court against a Brit, so it is never easy. More than anything, I am just relieved to be in the second week of Wimbledon.

    Alex De Minaur will lock horns with Cristian Garín of Chile for a quarterfinal berth at Wimbledon on July 4.
