Wimbledon News: John Isner fires 32 aces to beat Andy Murray in the second round
John Isner of America won against Scottish star Andy Murray 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 in the opening round of the Wimbledon 2022 at All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London, England, on June 29
Andy Murray was knocked out of the second round in contrast to his exit in the third round at the last year's tournament. The British star showed no physical problem despite suffering from abdominal issues in the run-up to the tournament, winning the first set 4-6 with ease. However, John Isner kept Andy Murray at bay with his excellent service game to prevent Andy Murray from gaining a foothold in the match.
John Isner put forth a brilliant display of tennis skill to consecutively win the last three sets 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 to secure a third-round spot. The American fired a whopping 32 aces and won 84% of the points on the first serve compared to just ten aces and 81% on the first serve.
Low spot Pepperstone ATP Ranking proved disastrous for Andy Murray. Getting seeded is crucial to avoid playing top guys in the early stages of the tournament. The Brit has been focused on improving his ranking since losing as an unseeded player against World No. 1 Daniil Medvedev at the Miami Open.
After the defeat, Andy Murray said, "I could have had a good run here," the 35-year-old said in his post-match press conference. It is one of those matches that, had I got through, who knows what would have happened. I think most of the players on the Tour would tell you that a match like that was won or lost based on a few points here and there. I didn't play well enough on those points tonight.
John Isner will face Jannik Sinner of Italy in the third round of Wimbledon on June 29. Janik Sinner advanced to the third round after beating Mikael Ymer of Sweden 6-4, 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 in the second round.
Carlos Alcaraz breaks new ground with Wimbledon win
Spanish sensation Carlos Alcaraz Garfia won against Tallon Griekspoor of the Netherlands 6-4, 7-6(0), 6-3 in the second round of the Wimbledon 2022.

Carlos Alcaraz Garfia will lock horns with Oscar Otte of Germany in the third round of the tournament on July 1.
