US Open 2022 Semi Final Line up: Is Caroline Garcia the top contender ?
The Tennis world appreciates the number four for the improvement she has shown in her performance in 2022. She is a focused, impactful and supremely talented player well-deserving of the Cincinnati Masters title that she won a week before the last Slam of the year
French tennis star and a current semi-finalist at the US Open 2022 is thriving on a higher plane of world tennis. Fans are now way more reactive to the #FlyWithCaro hashtag that has been serving as a connecting bridge between them and Caroline Garcia on Twitter.
The 28-year-old has won 30 of 34 matches ever since her winning run at the Bad Homburg Open, Germany, this year. In Flushing Meadows, the number 17th seed has not dropped a single set and conceded only 27 games en route to the semi-finals, where she will meet fifth seed Ons Jabeur.
However, 2018 to 2021 was challenging for the French woman who secured 65-64 and a poor 1-10 record against the top 10. She slipped down the rankings by the end of 2021 and settled at 74.
Why did Caroline Garcia suffer from poor form?
The media, during her struggle, criticised her for "playing too aggressively" and taking risks in her games. Due to the dip in her results, she assumed that the people knew better and changed her style.
In the winter of 2021, Garcia hired coach Bertrand Perret, who had previously worked with Ons Jabeur, Tatjana Maria and other top players. She also hired physiotherapist Laura Legoupil and called for her father, Louis Paul Garcia, to assist her as manager.
The results have been exponentially positive, but her transition period continued for six months, after which essential improvement was recorded. After losing the first set to Aliaksandra Sasnovich in Bad Homburg, she decided to trust her instincts and play the kind of tennis that feels true to her.
After that point, Garcia was unstoppable. She had finally reaped the benefits of working with Perret for six months. "I think this tournament was really the week a lot of things changed," she disclosed. "I was practising to be aggressive, to move forward, but I had some issues doing it on the court in matches—that's where it changed, really in the second set of that first round."
Will Caroline Garcia win the US Open 2022?
Garcia is currently the front-runner in Flushing Meadows, and her game would be difficult to beat. She leads the other players in the percentage of service games won (94), winners (116) and forehand winners (54)
She has entered her first US Open semi-final match and could very well take the crown. "You know, it's a challenge every day, and it's a reward to be here today, and I'm grateful for all the hard work we did," said Garcia.
