Tennis News: Rolex Paris Masters: Novak Djokovic beats Stefanos Tsitsipas in a decisive semi-final duel

    Serbian legend Novak Djokovic secured a 6-2, 3-6, 7-6(7-4) victory over World No. 5 Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece in the semi-final clash of the Rolex Paris Masters at Accor Arena in Paris, France, on November 5.

    21-time grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic began the match aggressively, losing just two of the first four serving games. He placed pressure on Stefanos Tsitsipas with his excellent returns and fired two explosive forehands to move ahead of 30/30 at 2-3 en route to a one-set advantage.

    Stefanos Tsitsipas took a 3-2 lead in the second set after an uncharacteristic error by the Serb. The 24-year-old Greek took advantage as Djokovic lost his rhythm and won the next four games to force the match into a decider.

    Novak Djokovic rediscovered his momentum in the decider. Still, Stefanos Tsitsipas kept pushing back and forced the set into a tiebreak after the 35-year-old Serb failed to convert on four breakpoints before eventually securing his victory.

    Novak Djokovic served 11 aces, fired 36 winners, won 82% of the points on the first serve and broke the serve of his Greek opponent two times from six opportunities. In contrast, Stefanos Tsitsipas served nine aces, won 69% of the points on the first serve and committed one double fault.

    After the victory, Novak Djokovic said, "It's very sweet. Obviously, when you win matches like this against one of the best players in the world. Deservedly so, we went into both of us into an even battle until the last point, until the last shot. Some incredible points towards the end. I'm just really glad to overcome this challenge."

    The victory extended the win-loss record of Novak Djokovic against Stefanos Tsitsipas to 9-2 and 9-0 for the semi-finals at the Paris Masters 1000.

    Novak Djokovic will lock horns with Holger Rune of Denmark in the championship match of the Rolex Paris Masters on November 6.

    Holger Rune beats Felix Auger Aliassime to advance to the final in Paris

    Holger Rune of Denmark secured a comfortable straight-set victory over World No. 8 Felix Auger Aliassime of Canada in a semi-final clash of the Rolex Paris Masters on November 5.

    The 19-year-old Dane has now advanced to the championship match after beating Carlos Alcaraz Garfia, Hubert Hurkacz, Andrey Rublev and Felix Auger Aliassime on the indoor hardcourts at the ATP 1000 event in Paris.

    It was the second clash of Holger Rune against Felix Auger-Aliassime, having lost to him in the Basel Open final on Sunday. The Canadian failed to match the intensity of Holger Rune in the semi-final of the Rolex Paris Masters and was handed a 6-4, 6-2 defeat.

    After the victory, Holger Rune said, Putting Felix under pressure, that's what my game plan was all about. I managed to do it almost perfectly. I am super proud of how I handled everything.
