Tennis News: Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and others qualify for the ATP Finals. This time record-breaking prize money pot
The ATP Finals' prize pot has been announced, and it will be a giant prize pool in the history of Tennis
Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic have already made their way into the tournament with three more players to compete for the most significant prize money of the season and 1500 ranking points at the end of the game.
The top eight men's tennis players are to compete in the season-end ATP finals for the top rank and colossal prize money. Apart from Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, three more players who've secured their position are Carlos Alcaraz, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Casper Ruud. The last three spots are yet to be filled.
The player who wins the entire tournament with no defeats will win a record-breaking prize of $4,740,300. Ash Barty, who won $4.2m last year in the WTA Finals, holds the record for the most considerable prize money.
Similarly, a doubles pair to win the entire tournament undefeated will also win record-breaking prize money of $930,300.
The prize money pool is a whopping record-breaking $14.75m. The current record of the giant prize money pot is held by the 2019 WTA Finals, which had a total collection of $14m.
Despite being in the eighth position in the ATP rankings, Djokovic has made his way into the ATP Finals. His ranking was severely affected due to two reasons: one, because he failed to play the Australian and the US Opens and second, because the Grand Slam title that he had won, Wimbledon, was stripped of the ATP rankings because the Russian players were barred from participating in the tournament.
The ATP Finals are scheduled for November 13 to November 20. Meanwhile, in the year-end WTA Finals, players like Iga Swiatek, Ons Jabeur, Jessica Pegula, Coco Gauff, Caroline Garcia, Aryna Sabalenka, and Daria Kasatkina have so far qualified for the finals.
Either Veronika Kudermetova or Maria Sakkari will fill the last and final spot in the WTA Finals.
While the ATP Finals' prize money for the champion is fixed at $4,740,300, there's a financial commitment of $5,000,000 for the WTA Finals champion this year. The final prize money pool of the WTA Finals is yet to be announced.
