Tennis News: Novak Djokovic is still unable to travel to the United States
Novak Djokovic triumphed at Wimbledon for the seventh time in July 2022. Unfortunately, the tournament removed the system of point allocation to players to maintain fairness amidst the imposition of a ban on Russian and Belarusian players
As a result, the Serb had to give away 2,000 points compared to last year. Shortly after, he was deported from Australia due to his unvaccinated status.
He was not allowed to compete in the Australian Open, another consequence of being deported. The current world number six is ready to put his career at risk to maintain his stance on the subject.
Besides losing his position in the top 10, he might not be able to participate in tournaments as much as his peers. He has skipped four Masters 1000 tournaments, Indian Wells, Miami, Montreal and Cincinnati.
However, the 21-time Major titlist has continued to train in Montenegro as he awaits a final decision from the country. His wait might end on Thursday when the draw will be released.
With a week left for the US Open to start, chances look slim for the Serb. If he is not permitted to participate in the US Open, he will make a return on September 14 against Spain in the Davis Cup group stage in Valencia.
An ex-Serbian parliament member calls him uneducated
Ex-Serbian parliament member Vesna Pesic does not think that Novak Djokovic is "dumb" but suggests that the 21-time Grand Slam champion is "uneducated."
The 35-year-old has repeatedly refused to vaccinate against COVID-19, and his decision has attracted negative attention from the public over the last two years.
A person had tweeted at Pesic about Djokovic being "dumb" and "uneducated," at which Pesic insisted that the Serb had been playing since he was six years old without paying much heed to his education.
Vesna Pesnic brought up Djokovic's Bosnian pyramids
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Djokovic has frequently visited the Archeological Park in Bosnia. He feels recharged when he spends time there. After being deported from Australia, Djokovic went to the Archeological Park to find peace of mind.
Vesna Pesnic used the context when he spoke about the Serb and remarked that "those pyramids in Bosnia did not help him." Djokovic has been criticised for his vaccine stance, and some accuse him of feeding anti-vax propaganda.
Djokovic cited that he is not against vaccines but is not willing to inject something without knowing the effects it would have on his body. He further said that he is aware even if there's a 0.5% change in his system.
He wants to be cautious even if it means living with the consequences, as stated by the Serb. He might not be allowed to enter the United States for the US Open.
