Tennis News: Emma Raducanu leads the British team at Billie Jean King Cup Finals; Rafael Nadal and his wife Maria Perello welcome their first child
Emma Raducanu has recently been announced to lead the British team in the Billie Jean King Cup
The Billie Jean King Cup will be held between November 8 and 13. The British team has been announced to have Emma Raducanu, Katie Boulter, Harriet Dart and Heather Watson in the team.
The tournament has 12 teams divided into four groups for the finals. The British team has found its place in Group C, with Kazakhstan and Spain as their opponents.
Raducanu is currently not playing due to several injuries that she has suffered in the recent past. In particular, her wrist injury had ended her season; however, the recent announcement of her name for the Billie Jean King Cup led to some controversy.
After her nomination on Monday, questions were raised as to how Raducanu would be able to play with the injury.
In response, Anne Keothavong, the team captain, showed optimism and said, "I was literally on the phone to her (Emma Raducanu) this morning at the airport. We have the benefit of time on our side. The Billie Jean King Cup Final isn't for another month."
Meanwhile, Rafael Nadal and his wife Maria Perello have become parents as Perello has given birth to a sweet baby boy
The couple had a boy on Saturday in Mallorca. The couple got married in October 2019, and Nadal announced in June 2022 that the couple was expecting.
After Federer's retirement, Nadal pulled out of Laver Cup, stating personal reasons. The reason could be his wife's due date that was approaching.
