Tennis Mallorca Open: Stefanos Tsitsipas Soars Into his First Grass-Court Final
World No. 6 Stefanos Tsitsipas defeated Benjamin Bonzi of France 6-4, 6-4 in the semifinal Mallorca Open at Santa Ponsa in Mallorca, Spain, on June 24
Stefanos Tsitsipas reached his first tour-level final on the grass-court with his straight-set victory over the Frenchman. The Greek put forth a brilliant display of superb footwork to dictate the match with his aggressive forehand shots. He kept his rhythm at the crucial moments to save all the three break points he faced.
The first set had a cagey start, but Stefanos Tsitsipas broke Benjamin Bonzi in the ninth game to win the first set 6-4. He built on the momentum in the second set with excellent baseline play to take an early lead. The 23-year-old Greek forced Benjamin Bonzi in errors to wrap his victory after one hour and 32 minutes of the game.
Second seed Stefanos Tsitsipas had also defeated Benjamin Bonzi last week at the Halle Open before losing in the next round to Nick Kyrgios of Australia.
World No. 56 Benjamin Bonzi enjoyed a brilliant run as he played at a semifinal for the second time in his career.
In an on-court interview, Stefanos Tsitsipas said, "It was a good match. I am thrilled today. I have played a final a week before a Grand Slam before. It was the year I made the last at Roland Garros in Lyon. It worked out pretty well to have that final and consistency of matches. It is different this time. We are talking about another surface so that we will see.
Stefanos Tsitsipas will lock horns with Roberto Bautista Agut of Spain at Mallorca Open in his fourth season final on June 25.

The victory improved the record of Roberto Bautista Agut on a grass court to 40-17 as he aims to win his second title of the season, with the previous one coming at Doha.
