Still unclear when Rafael Nadal will return from injury
Rafael Nadal will reportedly extend his recovery from injury for at least another week as he is unlikely to compete in the Barcelona Open.
The 22-time Grand Slam champion has been out of action since mid-January when he suffered a hip injury during the Australian Open.
His initial recovery time was set between six to eight weeks, with the Indian Wells and Miami Opens considered as possible events for his return. However, he had to withdraw from both.
While the Monte Carlo Masters was also on his schedule, he confirmed last week that he is still not fit for high-level competition.
"I am not yet in a position to play with the maximum guarantees and I continue my preparation process, hoping to return soon," Nadal stated.
Reports now suggest that the Spaniard will not compete in the Barcelona Open but will return at the ATP Masters 1000 Madrid Open on April 26.
