Ons Jabeur is now her 21st consecutive match when she wins the first set. In the first set, the Tunisian struck a forehand to get a crucial breakpoint when both the players were tied 4-4. Daria Kasatkina gave a tough competition, but Ons Jabeur managed to hold and get a one-set lead after saving two breakpoints.

Daria Kasatkina levelled the match with her stellar defence and untimely errors by Ons Jabeur while taking drop shots. Ons Jabeur finally broke Kasatinka with a forehand winner in the third set, taking a 4-2 lead. However, Daria Kasatkina mounted a counterattack to win three games and service, bringing the score to 5-4. Ons Jabeur grabbed another match point with a forehand winner and broke for 5-5 with a sideline drop shot to seal her victory by winning the last three games.

After the victory, Ons Jabeur said, "It means a lot to me, especially mentally, that I could come back from a match point and prove that I did that today. Hopefully, I can keep being stronger mentally because I know [the final] tomorrow is all about mental.

She added, "Very happy to back that other final in Madrid. It's never easy to play Kasatkina. I know this surface kind of suits her very well because it's slow and she likes it. She was playing well this week. It was a tough one for me not being 100 per cent there. Pretty glad that I got the win and finals again."

Ons Jabeur of Tunisia will face World No. 1 Iga Swiatek of Poland at the final for the Italian Open title. Defending Champion Iga Swiatek is on a winning streak of 27 after her straight-sets victory against Aryna Sabalenka, while Ons Jabeur won her 11th consecutive match to reach the finals. In the final clash, one of them will lose its winning streak.

If Ons Jabeur defeats Iga Swiatek, she will become the third player to win the titles at Madrid Open and Rome Open in a single year. Previously, Dinara Safina in 2009 and Serena Williams in 2013 have managed to do the same. Ons Jabeur will face Iga Swiatek on clay for the first time. She has a 2-1 record against Iga Swiatek on grass, including at Wimbledon last year.
