I am looking forward to playing a good match again. I played well last year here. For me, the most important thing is to focus on my service. If I'm serving good, I can be a really dangerous player

Former World Number 10 Pablo Carreno Busta defeated Holger Rune of Denmark 6-3, 7-6(5) in the opening round of the Halle Open at Gerry Weber Stadion in Halle, Germany, on June 13.
Pablo Carreno Busta returned after a first-round loss to Gilles Simon at the French Open with a straight-set victory against Roland Garros quarter-finalist Holger Rune. It was Holgar Rune's maiden tour-level match on a grass court. He was broken by the sixth-seed Spaniard, who saved five break points in the third game of the first set.
Pablo Carreno Busta got two break points at 4-4 and 5-5 against his 19-year-old opponent in the second set but had to win two points to seal his victory after one hour and 47 minutes of play. Holger Rune committed three double faults, struck six aces and won 75% on the first serve, while Pablo Carreno Busta won 73% of the points on the first serve, fired two aces, and saved six of seven break points he faced to outlast his Danish opponent.
World No. 28 Pablo Carreno Busta improved his win-loss record against Holger Rune to 2-0, adding to his previous victory at the quarterfinal in the 2021 Metz Open.
