The Polish player wins her 26th match in a row, beating her opponent with relative ease 7-6(2), 6-0. Although she was 3-5 down in the opener, she fought back and forced a tie-break which she lost. Swiatek won the second set with ease to win the match and set up a semi-final clash against third seed Sabalenka who beat American Amanda Anisimova 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 in the quarterfinals. It marks Sabalenka's first win in five attempts, but Swiatek's unmatched talent might be a challenge for the American. 20-year-old Anisimova has curbed Sabalenka's Madrid title defence in the first round at the end of April.

Swiatek, the reigning champion in Rome, is relishing a streak of 26 straight wins and targetting a fifth tournament victory in a row. On the other hand, Tunisia's Ons Jabeur made a comeback after being a game away from defeat to beat Maria Sakkari 1-6 7-5 6-1. Jabeur, who is known as the first Arab or African player to win a WTA 1000 title after her victory in Madrid last week, was trailing 5-2 down in the second set against the Greek fourth seed.

As Sakkari served to win, 27-year-old Jabeur broke her do and then won the next seven games to go three up in the third set and retain her lead. Jabeur will now encounter Daria Kasatkina, who advanced to the semi-finals after beating Switzerland's Jil Teichmann, retired injured while the Russian dominated the scoreboard that read 6-4 3-2. Meanwhile, the Indian pairing of Sania Mirza-Lucie Hradecká

defeated Andreja Klepač-Alexa Guarachi 6-4 4-6 10-8. They will now face Gabriela Dabrowski and Giuliana Olmos in the semi-finals. The other match will take place betwen Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova-Demi Schuurs and Veronika Kudermetova-Desirae Krawczyk.

Ons Jabeur overcomes Sakkari for a 10th straight win to make it to the Rome semis

Ons Jabeur fights back from 6-1, 5-2 to defeat Maria Sakkari 1-6, 7-5,6-1 at Stadio del tennis di Roma in the quarterfinals of the Rome Open.

Ons Jabeur of Tunisia mounted a thrilling counterattack to oust No.4 seed Maria Sakkari of Greece to reach her first Rome Open semi-final. She extended her winning streak to ten consecutive games with a hard-fought victory.

Maria Sakkari won the first set 6-1 and was two points away from ending the winning streak of Ons Jabeur with a straight-set win in the second set. However, the 27-year-old Tunisian carefully steered the match in her favour to win the second set 7-5 with a tactful display. With the regained momentum, Ons Jabeur quickly got a 5-1 lead in the third set and reached the final point when Maria Sakkari fired a return serve wide to win the two-hour-long game.

Ons Jabeur has the highest number of tour-level clay-court wins with 16 victories in the 2022 season. She won her first WTA title in Madrid last week. She also reached the Charleston Open final and Stuttgart quarterfinals.

Last week's Madrid Open champion, Ons Jabeur, said, "In my head at 5-2, I said, 'You cannot finish those two weeks, those amazing almost three weeks like this. That is what got me started. I am very happy that I could get the win in the end."

She added, "It's not easy to play Maria, no? I know she hits hard. I couldn't find my rhythm at the beginning. But I'm glad that I could pull off the win with a little bit of experience that I have.

Jabeur will next face World No.23 Daria Kasatkina in the semi-finals on May 14.

Daria Kasatkina has reached the last four in Rome for the first time after receiving a walkover due to Jil Teichmann retiring due to an injury in the middle of the game.
