The 20-year-old Polish sensation successfully extended her winning streak to 28 consecutive matches and won her second successive title in Rome. Iga Swiatek broke the 11 matches long winning streak of current Mutua Madrid Open title winner Ons Jabeur.

Iga Swiatek became the second player to win more than four WTA 1000 titles in a single season with her victory. Previously, American tennis legend Serena Williams was the only player to win five titles in a single season(2013). Iga Swiatek has successfully won all the WTA 1000 titles for the tournaments she has competed in this season, winning at Doha Open, Indian Wells, Stuttgart Open, Miami Open and now Rome Open.

Iga Swiatek is the third-youngest player and the ninth player to successfully defend her title at Rome. It was a memorable win for Iga Swiatek as she won the first WTA 1000 title in Rome last year. She has now won eight finals in a row, with her only loss three years ago in her first final.

Iga Swiatek went into the match ferociously and took complete control of the game right from the start. It did not take long to break her Tunisian opponent to get a quick 3-0 lead. Ons Jabeur pounced at the opportunity when Iga Swiatek made a few errors, providing Jabeur with two openings. Ons Jabeur was able to put Iga Swiatek in a 30-0 deficit, but the Polish star quickly took hold of the situation and won the first set 6-2.

In the second set, Ons Jabeur broke the serve of Iga Swiatek for the first time in the match at 4-1. Ons Jabeur got a chance to turn the game around at 4-2 which resulted in back to back rallies before the World No. 1 eventually outmanoeuvred Ons Jabeur to wrap up the game with a big first serve.

After the win, Iga Swiatek said, "I'm going to celebrate with a lot of tiramisus. See you at the French Open."
