French Open: Rafael Nadal cruises past Zandschulp, on course for a quarterfinal clash with Novak Djokovic
Rafael Nadal defeated Botic van de Zandschulp of the Netherlands 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 in the third round of the French Open at Stade Roland Garros on May 27 to secure a straight-sets victory
Rafael Nadal maintained his perfect set record with a dominant victory over his Dutch opponent. He dropped his serve in the opening game before settling on Court Suzanne Lenglena. The 13 times Roland Garros champion pounced back instantly, controlled the set for the next five service games, and won 23 straight points.
The Spaniard maintained control of the game throughout the match. Botic van de Zandschulp tried to offer some resistance to Nadal in the final set after failing to trouble him during the rest of the game. Botic van de Zandschulp dialled up the aggression to take the score to 5-4 after he was trailing 4-0. However, Rafael Nadal maintained his cool and won the match with a forehand winner. He won 40 of the 46 points on the first serve, wrapping up the game with an 87% win rate on the first serve.
In a post-match interview, Rafael Nadal said, "Today has been an excellent test and a very positive test because I could play my best match of the tournament so far, without any doubt," Nadal told the press. "For two sets and a half, I was playing very positively.
Rafael Nadal has advanced to the fourth round of the Rolland Garros without dropping a set. If Nadal can move forth with straight-set wins for the rest of the tournament, it will be possible for him to win his fifth Roland Garros title without losing a single set. The victory increased his win-loss score at French Open to 108-3.
Rafael Nadal will face Felix Auger Aliassime of Canada in the fourth round of the French Open on May 29.

Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic will be playing their fourth-round matches tomorrow. They will face each other in the quarterfinals for the 59th time in a repeat of the 2021 Roland Garros if they emerge victorious in their respective matches.
