French Open mixed doubles: Sania Mirza and Ivan Dodig reach the second round at Rome

    Sania Mirza, who won the 2012 season of the French Open with her then-partner, Mahesh Bhupathi, has decided to retire after this year, so she might be ready to give everything she's got to win this season. Competing against Laura Siegemund/Santiago Gonzalez, the duo didn't have great difficulty defeating them. They were defeated in straight sets 7-6(4), 6-2. The duo reached the second round with an easy win. 

    French Open Women's Doubles: Sania Mirza/Lucie Hradecka make a terrific start 

    While Sania Mirza had already reached the second round of mixed doubles with Ivan Dodig, in the meantime, Sania Mirza and Lucie Hradecka fought against Jasmine Paolini and Martina Trevisan the same day and also succeeded in reaching the second round. However, the win was not as easy as with the Mirza-Dodig duo. The two had a difficult first set that ended in their defeat 4-6; however, the last two rounds were easy wins. The first set saw some errors on Mirza and her partner's part that ended the set at 1-0. The duo won the second set tying the score to 1-1 by the end of the second set. The third set ended with the duo's victory 4-6, 6-2, 6-1, taking them to the second round. This French Open duo is seeded in the 10th position and is expected to do wonders in the upcoming days. 

    French Open Men's Doubles: Rohan Bopanna and Matwe Middelkoop enter pre quarterfinals

    In the first round of the French Open Men's Doubles, Rohan Bopanna and his Dutch partner, Matwe Middelkoop defeated two wild card entries: Sascha Gueymard Wayenburg and Luca Van Assche. Like Sanya Mirza's mixed doubles first, match, this match was also an easy win for the duo 6-4, 6-1. 

    The duo has now entered the pre-quarterfinals by defeating Andrey Golubev and Fabrice Martin by a straight-set win 6-3, 6-4. 

    Meanwhile, Ramkumar Ramanathan and Hunter Reese are knocked out of the French Open Men's Doubles, losing to the Dutch-British duo: Wesley Koohlof and Neal Skupski 3-6, 2-6. Ramkumar still has hope left with the mixed doubles. Mirza has reached the second round in mixed doubles and women's doubles.
