Bad Homburg Open: Simona Halep books a semifinal spot, to clash with Bianca Andreescu
World No. 19 Simona Halep of Romania won against Amanda Anisimova of the United States 6-2 6-1 in the quarterfinals of the Bad Homburg Open at TC Bad Homburg on June 23
Simona Halep carried on with her excellent run at the Bad Homburg Open with another superb victory against Amanda Anisimova to seal a semifinal spot. Amanda Anisimova also had a good run till the quarterfinals but failed to match the superior rhythm of her Romanian opponent.
Simona Halep looked dominant throughout the match and fired cannonball shots from all spots on the court. She overpowered her American opponent with her decisive first service game and brilliant baseline play. She saved both of the breakpoints she faced and converted two to win the first set 6-2.
Amanda Anisimova had to take a timeout in the second set due to a medical issue. However, she decided to continue with the match instead of opting out. Simona Halep made much better use of her service in the second set. At the same time, Amanda Anisimova failed to offer much resistance, allowing the former Wolrd No.1 to win the second set 6-1 to advance to the semifinals with a straight-set victory.
Simona Halep will face Bianca Andreescu of Canada in a semifinal clash on June 24.

Bianca Andreescu won against first-seed Daria Kasatkina of Russia 6-4, 6-1 to advance to the last four.
Former World No. 4 returned to tennis after a small hiatus in April. She expressed her excitement at reaching her first semifinal of the season. She said, "It means a lot because I have gone through some difficult moments. I persevered & having a moment like this shows how much it's worth.
Bianca Andreescu will lock horns with Simona Halep for the second time in her career.
