T20 World Cup 2022: Rain Upsets England; Ireland won by five runs (DLS Method)
Ireland dominated England throughout the match, and another rain delay in the 15th over clinched their remarkable victory
Earlier, Ireland lost seven wickets for just 40 runs as they faltered miserably in the final five overs. They went from 92/1 at the end of the tenth over to 157 runs all out.
England has struggled to gain momentum and has had half of their team depart without reaching three figures. Alex Hales, Jos Buttler, and Ben Stokes all fell in the opening four overs without scoring anything.
Dawid Malan and Harry Brook failed to get the team rolling. The par score was 110 and England inning was down to power hitters Moeen Ali and Liam Livingstone as Rain was spoilsport.
England was five runs short of the DLS par total when rain delayed play and the game was called off, with Ireland declared the victors.
Man of the Match: Andy Balbirnie was the standout batsman, scoring 62 off 47 balls.
