T20 World Cup 2022: India coach Rahul Dravid considers changes in the Indian team for the semi-final against England
Rahul Dravid admits he will consider changes to his XI for the upcoming semi-final against England in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup
Rahul Dravid's charges secured a comfortable 71-run win over Zimbabwe on Sunday's final day of the Super 12 stage to move into the last four and book their place in the semi-finals against England.
India travels to Adelaide on Thursday to take on Jos Buttler's side. Rahul Dravid said he would choose a XI for this match that would suit the conditions.
For experienced leggie Yuzvendra Chahal, this could be his first appearance in the tournament, as the pitch at the Adelaide Oval usually suits the slower bowlers.
Experienced wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik could also be recalled to replace Rishabh Pant. Rahul Dravid revealed that he would take his final decision on XI only after seeing the pitch in Adelaide.
One minor concern for Rahul Dravid is Axar Patel's form. The all-rounder has taken just three wickets in four matches so far in the T20 World Cup and has yet to contribute a score of more than seven with the bat.
Axar Patel's only over against Pakistan on MCG was smashed for 21 runs, while he was again expensive against Zimbabwe on Sunday when he conceded 40 runs in 3.2 overs.
Rahul Dravid said Axar Patel's form was a minor worry for his side, but the former India captain pointed to the positive contribution the 28-year-old had made over an extended period.
India's semi-final against England will be played at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday. The winner will advance to Sunday's final, which will be played against either New Zealand or Pakistan.
