T20 World Cup 2022: Four young Indian IPL players who can be future team India stars
The Indian Premier League has been a massive contributor to Indian international cricket. It has been a platform that trains and filters out the best talent to be part of the Indian national side and compete in international tournaments. Now more than before, the BCCI will never run short of talent
IPL performances have also significantly influenced the current Indian squad for the T20I World Cup. From Hardik Pandya to Arshdeep Singh and from Dinesh Karthik to Suryakumar Yadav, plenty more players were waiting for the opportunity.
Here are the four youngsters who are first in line to get a chance in India right after the T20I World Cup 2022 finishes.
Umran Malik
The fastest bowler India ever got in international or domestic cricket bagged 22 wickets while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2022. This was the highest wicket tally among Indian pacers in IPL 2022. Looking at his capability to bowl consistently above 150 kmph, many veterans hailed and supported the youngster to be drafted for the T20 World Cup in Australia.
The young pacer was then drafted for international tours against Ireland and England. He managed a couple of wickets but was very expensive to return with an economy of 12. This showed that though he has a lot of potential, there is still room to improve.
With some more grooming, the pacer can get called back without key speedsters like Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah.
Rahul Tripathi
Rahul Tripathi got his maiden call for team India for the two-match T20I series against Ireland but didn’t make it to the playing XI.
He played consistently and was the attacking scorer for Kolkata Knight Riders in many IPL editions. Still, he got his best outing with Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2022 while playing at number three. He scored 413 runs at a tremendous strike rate of 158.
When leading players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are rested after the World cup, we might see him donning a jersey for team India and making a debut.
Mohsin Khan
In IPL 2022, we saw many emerging young pacers for the Men in Blue, out of which the most impressive one was Mohsin Khan. The seamer played for Lucknow Super Giants and picked up 14 wickets in nine matches at a terrific economy of 5.96 and an average of 14.07.
His good height enables him to hit the deck hard and generate extra bounce. His left-arm angle already has given him a slight advantage over other pacers.
Mukesh Chaudhary
As Chennai Super Kings key all-rounder Deepak Chahar got ruled out of the IPL 2022, young pacer Mukesh Choudhary led the CSK’s bowling attack brilliantly. He snapped 16 wickets in 13 IPL matches, the most memorable being the dismissal of Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan in a single over.
The left-arm pacer can swing the ball, which makes him more deadly if added to the Indian squad. He needs to work only on his economic rate, and he can indeed make a strong case for his inclusion.
The bowler has travelled to Australia along with team India for T20 World Cup as their new bowler and might become the ideal candidate to fill the role of left-arm seamer to represent team India.
