Pro Kabaddi League: Five stars who had a lackluster group stage performance
The league stage of the ninth season of the Pro Kabaddi League ended with a clash between Bengal Warriors and Patna Pirates on December 11.
Patna Pirates won the match with a margin of nine points. Both teams have already been knocked out of the tournament and decided to rest their primary players.
Twelve teams clashed with each other in 132 matches in three cities in the league stage. Lots of big names were part of the Pro Kabaddi League. Most of them gave fantastic performances to impress the fans, but a few still needed to pull up their weight.
Now that the group stage is over, let’s take a look at five stars who gave a disappointing performance during the group stage this season:
Vikash Kandola
Team: Bengaluru Bulls
Bengaluru Bulls acquired Vikash Kandola for a whopping INR 1.7 crore during the 2022 Pro Kabaddi League auction.
The 24-year-old raider still needs to justify his cost so far. He racked up just 117 raid points from 22 matches this season, much lower than his fellow Bengaluru Bulls teammate Bharat Hooda with 204 raid points.
Abhishek Singh
Team: Telugu Titans
Abhishek Sing made his debut in the Pro Kabaddi league with U Mumba in 2020. However, he was acquired by Telugu Titans this year after spending two seasons with U Mumba.
The 23-year-old Bulandshahar native finished the league stage at the 32nd spot on the raiders leaderboard with just 56 raid points from 16 matches.

Neeraj Kumar and Sajin C
Team: Patna Pirates
Sajin C and Neeraj Kumar form the defensive combination of Patna Pirates. Both have had a disastrous season this year; Sajin C finished with just ten tackle points from 13 clashes, while Neeraj Kumar earned 29 points.
Nitesh Kumar
Team: UP Yoddhas
After his heroic performances in the past season, veteran defender Nitesh Kumar was made the captain of the UP Yoddhas. The 25-year-old has racked up only 32 tackles from 21 clashes. However, he is an experienced player who can still improve his performance during the playoffs.
