Pro Kabaddi League: Three teams that could win the title for the first time
The Pro Kabaddi League is the first Kabaddi league in India, which began in 2014
Since then, while some teams, like Patna Pirates, Dabang Delhi, Bengaluru Bulls, etc., have been champions in one season or the other, some franchises have been in the league since the very beginning but have failed to win the title so far.
With only a few days remaining in the championship to begin, we must analyse the performance and the calibre of the teams to see which teams have the potential to win the title for the first time this season.
#1 Puneri Paltan
Despite qualifying for the playoffs a couple of times, Puneri Paltan has not been able to lift the trophy in the Pro Kabaddi League.
While this has been the reality of the Pune franchise so far, experts have great expectations from them this season.
Suppose a team was to win its maiden title this season. In that case, it can very well be Puneri Paltan with raiders like Aslam Inamdar and Mohit Goyat, a defender like Fazel Atrachali, one of the costliest players this season and a terrific all-rounder like Mohammad Nabibakhsh.
#2 Telugu Titans
Like Puneri Paltan, Telugu Titans have never reached the final stage. If one looks at their performance last year, they will find out the Telugu Titans only won one match last season out of 22 and finished last.
Despite their performance last season, Telugu Titans still make this list for two primary reasons: one, they have revamped their entire strategy this season by bringing in new coaches and two, they have one of their most important players, Siddharth Desai playing this time, who was out of the squad due to injury last season.
With Manjeet Chillar as their new assistant coach, the hopes from Telugu Titans are too high this time.
#3 UP Yoddhas
UP Yoddhas have remained consistent in their performance by always qualifying for the playoffs in every season they played.
Again, like the two teams mentioned above, they always crash during the knockouts.
With raiders like Nitin Tomar, Pardeep Narwal, and Surender Gill and players like Nitesh Kumar, Ashu Singh and Sumit on the defence side, they should be able to defeat any team they are brought against.
