Pro Kabaddi League: Teams with little to no chance of qualifying for the knockout rounds

The knockout stages are approaching, and the race for the top six is heating up, so Puneri Paltan became the first team to advance to the next round, followed by the Jaipur Pink Panthers.

Teams with little to no chance of qualifying for the knockout rounds. Teams with little to no chance of qualifying for the knockout rounds.

They received a direct ticket to the semi-finals, while the remaining four teams will battle it out in the eliminator. Before these spots are filled, we'd like to look at a few teams with little to no chance of making it to the knockouts.

    Patna Pirates

Patna Pirates are currently ranked 10th and are struggling with 49 points out of 19 matches. With three games remaining, their chances of qualifying look slim.

On Friday, the Patna Pirates slumped into a 40-34 loss against the Gujarat Giants, who dented their hopes of surviving the competition. Both teams started at a high pace, but the Gujarat Giants whipped out their best game against the Patna Pirates' scrappy form to overcome them.

The most successful team in PKL history must win all three games to qualify. They are reeling from three losses in a row, and two out of the three matches are against teams in the top four.

    Gujarat Giants

The 11th-ranked team are only above Telugu Titans, who have already crashed out of the tournament. The Gujarat Giants have 46 points in their tally and need a miracle to pull through.

His team fell short of competence despite coach Ram Meher Singh's overall success in the league. The players were afflicted by injuries that initiated a long losing streak before they won their last two matches.

However, it wouldn't affect their chances of qualifying, as they are eight points behind the sixth-ranked team. So their prospects don't look better than zero.

    Bengal Warriors

Bengal Warriors have been competent this season, but their inconsistency has caused their gradual downfall. They had registered a 41-38 win over Bengaluru Bulls to reclaim their position in the top six.

However, their resurgence was followed by another slide down the rankings table. The eighth-ranked team is unlikely to make it to the top six on time.

They still have two matches remaining with 50 points under their belt, but star raider Maninder Singh admitted that Bengal would find it tough to reach the playoffs.

"There is a lot of competition this year, there is just a difference of a couple of points. The top three teams have qualified. It is difficult, we have to win every match to make the playoffs." he said.

    Telugu Titans

Telugu Titans are at the bottom of the table and are down by 15 points. Last time, they had an underwhelming season, as they only won one out of the 22 matches played.

Their performance met the same fate this year despite making strenuous attempts to strengthen their defence. The Telugu Titans' coach, Venkatesh Goud, had assembled a roster of players who boasted experience and youth but to no avail.
