Pro Kabaddi League: Star all-rounder Ran Singh joins Bengaluru Bulls
Ran Singh, a well-known all-rounder in Pro Kabaddi League (PKL), remained unsold in the auctions held last month
He was signed by the Bengaluru Bulls right after, as the ninth season of the tournament is set to begin on October 7, 2022.
Ran Singh joined the Jaipur Pink Panthers as a defender in season one. His team won the inaugural edition of India's most coveted kabaddi league, prompting him to stay for three more years.
In the fifth season, we saw him compete for the Bengal Warriors, the team that roped him in for INR 43 lakhs. He scored 64 points in 23 games in his first year, which remains his most successful season in the tournament.
Ran Singh will also have the advantage of competing alongside his best friend Maninder Singh on the team. They were teammates before during the inaugural title-winning season.
In the seventh season, he was whisked away by the Tamil Thalaivas that poured in a whopping INR 55 lakhs to sign the talented all-rounder. Hence, it is clear that the Bulls would gain a lot from Ran Singh's services.
Ran Singh has scored more than 220 tackle points in over 100 games in the tournament. He has also proved to be a prolific raider helping the team set up a raid or two when needed.
Prashant Kumar Rai joins Gujarat Giants camp
Raider Prashanth Kumar Rai joined the Gujarat Giants camp before PKL season nine. The former Patna Pirates member remained unsold in the auctions last month.
In the previous season, he led his team to their fourth final under the guidance of coach Ram Mehar Singh. Now that the coach has moved to the Giants, he seemingly wanted Rai in his squad.
The raider started his league career with the Telugu Titans, where he spent three years being Rahul Chaudhary and Sukesh Hegde's backup. In 15 season two appearances, he secured 54 points.
He switched to Dabang Delhi in the fourth season of PKL but fell short of expectations. He was a part of the Haryana Steelers in the fifth season, where he snapped up 80 points in 16 games.
He pushed the team to the playoffs and scored three super 10s. He was a terrific performer in season six after the UP Yoddhas signed him for a hefty sum.
He acquired 147 points in 21 games and crossed the 100 raid points mark. Despite being a reliable player, he took charge of an inexperienced Patna Pirates.
He served as the skipper but was deployed as a backup raider to Guman Singh and Sachin Tanwar. In 23 matches, he secured 96 raid points and proved a great support raider.
In Gujarat Giants, he could meet a similar fate and be expected to assist young Rakesh and Pradeep besides sharing his experience to boost the team's chances.
