Pro kabaddi league: Raider Parteek Dhaiya leads Gujarat Giants to victory
Gujarat Giants and Bengaluru Bulls engaged in an intense trade-off, but Parteek Dahiya's stunning performance pocketed a win for the former in their Vivo Pro Kabaddi season nine match
On Sunday, the Giants registered a 46-44 victory at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Balewadi, in Pune, where Dhaiya contributed 16 points to the tally.
Captain Chandran Ranjit performed a decent raiding job, and his side acquired a 5-2 lead in the seventh minute. Rinku Narwal caught Bharat, and the Bulls were deemed helpless, with only three men standing.
Parteek Dhaiya's next attack led to an All-Out, and the Giants extended their lead to 12-5. However, Bharat kept his side's momentum in check and continued to raid.
He helped the Bulls reduce the Giants to one player on the mat before halftime, but the latter led 21-16 at the break. The Giants opened the second half by inflicting an All-Out that decreased their deficit.
Aman caught Rakesh, and Neeraj Narwal stepped up to equalise the score at 24-24 in the 24th minute. The Bulls pulled off another All-Out in the 29th minute, but Parteek Dhaiya secured a multi-point raid, and Arkam Shaikh tackled Vikash Kandola, which kept the Giants afloat.
They leveled the score at 36-36 in the 35th minute and were ready to throw in another All-Out, but Neeraj Narwal's subsequent raid helped his team over in the 38th minute.
Dhaiya upped his game in the last few minutes, and the Giants inflicted an All-Out to grab the lead at 42-41. They maintained their focus and finished with a narrow victory.
Tamil Thalaivas persevere in beating Puneri Paltan
The Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex witnessed another massive nail-biter as Tamil Thalaivas scooped up a thrilling 35-34 victory over Puneri Paltan as they ascended to the top ranks of the Vivo Pro Kabaddi season nine table.
Aslam Inamdar blessed Puneri Paltan with 15 points, and Tamil Thalaivas' Narender scored 13 points to give the opponents a run for their money. The mat brimmed with energy from the start of the match right till the very end.
The Paltan's Aslam Inamdar and the Thalaivas' Narender were in direct contention. Fazel Atrachali was expected to surpass the 400 tackle points, but the Iranian trod cautiously.
The Thalaivas closed the first half with a 16-15 lead. They affected their first All-out in the second half, where Narender's Super Raid trapped Atrachali, Abinesh Nadarajan, Sombir and Pankaj Mohite.
Puneri Paltans began to secure a point after point to close the deficit, and the Thailavas tried their best to control the pace. A few Super Tackles inflicted by Himanshu on Inamdar and Sagar on Mohit Goyat prompted an All-Out.
However, Puneri Paltan retaliated and pulled off their first All-Out of the game and reduced the gap to 30-34. Both parties proceeded clinically with little to no mistake, and a minor slip on Puneri Paltan's end allowed the Thalaivas to lead by a single point.
They ultimately won the match and maintained their unbeaten streak alive.
