Pro Kabaddi League: Akash Shinde leads Puneri Paltan to narrow victory over Dabang Delhi
Puneri Paltan registered a thrilling 47-44 victory over Dabang Delhi K.C. in a Pro Kabaddi League Season 9 match at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium.
Puneri Paltan entered the last 10 minutes of the match with a comfortable lead, but captain Naveen Kumar put up an inspiring performance to bring Dabang Delhi K.C. back into the game. However, the Pune team held their nerve in the match's final minutes and eventually walked away victorious.
With this victory, Puneri Paltan moved to the top of the table.
In the fifth minute, Ashu Malik scored two touchpoints to give Dabang Delhi a 6-4 advantage. Additionally, Naveen Kumar intervened, bringing Puneri Paltan's membership down to two people on the mat. As soon as the Delhi side scored an all-out in the ninth minute to grab a 13-7 lead, Ravi Kumar tackled Akash Shinde.
But Pankaj Mohite and Akash Shinde's attacks kept Puneri Paltan in the game at 12-16. After that, Naveen Kumar was tackled on a do-or-die episode by Abinesh Nadarajan as the Pune side continued to work on the lead.
Mohammad Nabibakhsh had a great chance to force an all-out, but Vijay Malik kept Delhi afloat with a brilliant Super Tackle, However, the Pune team managed to go all-out in the last minute of the first half but still trailed 20-21. But then Shinde managed an attack, and Nadarajan overcame Naveen to give Puneri a 22-21 lead at the end of the first half.
Shinde continued his form in the second half as the Pune side took a three-point lead at 25-22 in the 24th minute. Moments later, Paltan Manjeet attacked and ensured the game was decided 30-24 with another all-out.
Shinde of Pune produced a brilliant super raid in the 29th minute, taking out Vishal, Ashu Malik and Krishan to give his team a massive 35-25 lead.
Naveen, though, quickly pulled off a Super Raid to keep Delhi's hopes alive. However, the Pune squad persisted and scored an all-out in the 31st minute to grab a nine-point lead at 41-30.
However, Naveen was not about to give up, and in the 37th minute he pulled off a superb multi-point raid to keep his team in the game at 38-43.
Later, when the Delhi squad forced an all-out to go within touching distance of Pune at 43-46, Ravi Kumar pulled down Nabibakhsh. However, the Puneri Paltan brilliantly played their cards in the dying seconds to secure a thriller.
