Pro Kabaddi League: Akash Shinde assists Puneri Paltan as they defeat Patna Pirates to go to the playoffs
Puneri Paltan defeated Patna Pirates 44-30 to secure a spot in the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) semi-finals.
Akash Shinde (13 points) and Mohammad Nabibakhsh (9 points) were enough for the Paltan to pull off a masterstroke.
The Paltan took an early lead through Akash Shinde's quick attacks. Shinde was the prominent star, but Mohammad Nabibakhsh, Paltan's Iranian all-rounder, also scored on both sides of the mat to stagger the Pirates.
With just under a minute remaining in the first half, Paltan scored the first all-out of the game to build an 18-8 lead. Paltan was hardly threatened except by Sachin and went into the break with a 19-10 lead.
In the second half, Paltan increased the Pirates' wounds even more. Shinde and Nabibakhsh kept the Pirates scoring and extended their lead.
On the other side, things did not look good for the Pirates, although Sachin kept scoring valuable points. A third all-out by Paltan towards the end of the game made the Pirates' victory all but sure as they took a 43-19 lead.
The Pirates scored 11 points in the final five minutes, with Mohammedreza Chiyaneh scoring five points.
