Pro Kabaddi League 9: Top five players retained from the Rookie of Season 8
Now that almost all teams have announced the names of the players they will retain, it is pertinent to discuss the best players under the new young player's category
Starting from Aslam Inamdar, who was the first name to be announced by Puneri Paltan, to HS Rakesh, retained by Gujarat Giants, who is expected to give a strong performance under the guidance of Ram Meher Singh this year, here is a list of 5 best new young players to be playing in the next season:
Aslam Inamdar (Puneri Paltan)
Aslam Inamdar was the first name announced by Puneri Paltan to be retained for the upcoming season of the Pro Kabaddi League.
Despite playing his debut season, he scored a terrific 189 raid points in 22 matches, including five super 10s and seven super raids.
It isn't a surprise to anyone that Puneri Paltan didn't waste any time in retaining their best debutant for the next season.
Mohit Goyat (Puneri Paltan)
Mohit Goyat is another one of the players under the new young player's category that Puneri Paltan has retained for the next season.
Right below Inamdar, with 187 raid points, Goyat was retained the next day after Aslam Inamdar was retained.
With a success rate of 45%, Goyat made an average of 7.57 points per game. It is again no surprise that Puneri Paltan decided to retain an extraordinary new young player instead of wasting money on elite players who didn't perform well last season.
Bharat (Bengaluru Bulls)
With 129 raid points in 23 matches, Bharat made a great impression on the team and the fans in the last season.
Given his decent successful raid percentage of 48% and a pretty good average raids per match of 5, his retention in the team was pretty obvious.
Though his performance was decent and not extraordinary, there's a scope for improvement, and there's no doubt he will show a terrific game in the upcoming season.
Rakesh (Gujarat Giants)
With 140 points in 22 matches, Rakesh showed an excellent performance given season 8 was his debut season.
With a successful raid percentage of 47%, Rakesh has been retained by Gujarat Giants for the next season based on his visible effort to play incredibly during the last season.
With average raid points per match of 6.36, another team would've easily acquired him in the auction if Gujarat Giants hadn't retained him.
Ashu Malik (Dabang Delhi)
Dabang Delhi, the winner of season 8, has decided to show faith in Ashu Malik, one of their young players.
His performance was pretty average in the last season. Though he made 59 raid points in 22 matches, he sure has a score for improvement and hence, has been given a chance by previous year's winners to play again for the franchise.
Though his average was only 2.32 points per match, his consistency and impressive play throughout the season have tempted Dabang Delhi to retain him.
