Pro Kabaddi League 2022: Gujarat Giants make an impressive comeback to draw with Jaipur Pink Panthers
Jaipur Pink Panthers were in the lead until the last minute of the game, but Sonu and Dong Geon Lee put up an inspiring performance to help Gujarat Giants to a 51-51 draw in vivo Pro Kabaddi Season nine.
At the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad on Friday, Sonu scored 14 points while skipper Lee chipped in with 10.
In the fourth minute, Gujarat Giants established a 6-3 lead thanks to a spectacular raid by Parteek Dahiya. The all-rounder persisted in making attacks until there were just two Panthers left on the mat. The Giants scored an all-out shortly after to grab a 13-7 lead in the seventh minute.
But the Panthers soon had Dong Geon Lee under control and stayed in the game at 11-13. Abhishek KS and Deepak Singh scored tackle points, but the Giants still held a 17-15 lead.
Parteek Dahiya made a great multi-point raid, intercepting Deepak and Abhishek to help the Giants extend their lead. But Rahul Chaudhari made sure with some attacks that the Panthers got as close as 20-21 to the Giant's score.
The Panthers then attacked Mahendra Rajput to level the score at 21-21 just before the half-time break.
In the second half, the Panthers went all-out in the 24th minute to take a 29-26 lead. After that, Arjun Deshwal scored some Raid points, and the Panthers continued to lead 37-32. In the 32nd minute, the Jaipur side managed another all-out and took a 43-33 lead.
Deshwal provided a multi-point raid shortly after as the Panthers continued to lead. Sonu then scored some offence for the Giants, but the Panthers still held a 49-44 lead in the 39th minute. However, Sonu continued to shine as the Giants scored an all-out shortly after.
Moments later, Lee made a great tackle in the game's final seconds to help his team tie the game at the end.
