Pro Kabaddi League 9: Puneri Paltan retains four more players besides Mohit Goyat and Aslam Inamdar
Besides Aslam Inamdar and Mohit Goyat, who were retained by Puneri Paltan a couple of days back, the franchise recently retained four more players
Every franchise is allowed to retain six old players, and the Puneri Paltan has released the names of all six players ahead of the upcoming PKL 9 auction to be held on August 5 and 6.
Mohit Goyat made 187 points for the team in his PKL debut last season, which also gave him a place in the team this year. He also made one High 5 and eight super 10s.
Meanwhile, Puneri Paltan's first choice, Aslam Inamdar, also showed a terrific performance last season. Therefore, the news of retaining him was announced on July 21, followed by the franchise having Mohit Goyat on July 22.
Now, ahead of the PKL auctions, Puneri Paltan has announced the team is retaining four more names.
A recent announcement by the franchise shows that the team has also retained Akash Shinde and Govind Gurjar for the next season.
From the New Young Players category, two more players have been retained, i.e. Aditya Shinde and Badal Singh.
The four more players retained by the team besides Mohit Goyat and Aslam Inamdar didn't have much opportunity in the last season to showcase their talent.
Given that Puneri Paltan has retained these four, it is possible that the team has seen potential in them and watching their performance in the next season could be pretty exciting.
BC Ramesh replaces Anup Kumar as the head coach of Puneri Paltan
Puneri Paltan replaced their old head coach, Anup Kumar, with their old coach, BC Ramesh.
BC Ramesh coached Bengal Warriors in the last two seasons and made them win the title in season 7. The Bengal franchise retained him in season 8; their performance wasn't up to the mark.
BC Ramesh had coached Puneri Paltan in season 5, where the Pune team made the record for most wins and finished second on the Group A points table with 15 wins in 22 matches.
In season 6, Ramesh coached Bengaluru Bulls, again assisting them in winning the season title.
Seeing Ramesh's incredible performance in the league, Puneri Paltan has decided to bring him back to the franchise as the head coach. BC Ramesh is also pleased about the decision.
"I am very excited to work with the youngsters. It's a team I have been associated with in the past and am very eager to get back and repeat what we did in Season 5," said Ramesh.
