Wimbledon mixed doubles 2022: Sania Mirza and Mate Pavic are now in the quater finals

Sania Mirza of India and Pavic of Croatia beat their opponents, Natela Dzalamidze and David Vega Hernandez, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6(3).

They have now reached the quarter-finals as  Latisha Chan-Ivan Dodig have given them a walk over. 

Sania Mirza, who partnered with Czech Lucie Hradecka in women's doubles, exited the tournament after being defeated by Magdalena Frech and Beatriz Haddad Maia in a three-set loss 6-4, 4-6, 2-6.

Jack Sock and partner Coco Gauff beat Olivia Nicholls and Kyle Edmund

The mixed doubles duo of US, Jack Sock and partner Coco Gauff very comfortably beat Olivia Nicholls and Kyle Edmund 6-4 6-1 on July 2. The pair became a team through social media through a Twitter story. When she was 19 years old, Coco Gauff posted on her Twitter account and asked if anyone wanted to play mixed doubles at Wimbledon. In between many comments on the tweet, there was one serious reply too. Sock replied to the tweet and said, "We'd be a decent team."

Later, about one week before the tournament began, Gauff hinted that she would be teaming up with Jack Sock for mixed doubles. When a fan asked her about her mixed doubles partner on Tiktok, she replied, "His last name is the same as an article of clothing." Her hint made it clear to the fans that she will be playing with Jack Sock this season. 

The duo has been playing terrifically. They made their debut against Great Britain's Kyle Edmunds and Olivia Nicholls. The pair defeated them in a very comfortable win 6-4, 6-1. Although both Sock and Gauff have exited Wimbledon singles tournaments, they're still going strong in the mixed doubles category. Sock is also playing mixed doubles with American Denis Kudla, and they won their first round on Wednesday.

McEnroe has also made specific comments about Jack's competence in the past. He said, "I think he's got a lot of upsides. He's got some serious firepower, he's a good athlete, so I think he's got top-ten potential. I really do, I mean whether or not you get to where you're challenging these guys for winning majors -- that's what we really want. I think he's going to get to the top ten."
